Our Beloved Raisin

(more images of Raisin on Facebook)
Today we announce with great sadness the loss of one of BCC’s long-term residents and kindest souls. Many of you were fortunate to know Raisin, as he was the first cat in our shelter before it was even completed in February 2011. Raisin was an older FIV+ cat who was lucky enough to finally find his fur-ever home this past November. We chose Raisin to be the face of BCC’s Christmas card this year because his story was so inspiring. Even though it took him many years to find his place in the world, for the last few months of his life, Raisin had a loving family who cherished him and showed him the kind of home every cat should have.
We were devastated to hear of Raisin’s passing this past Wednesday. We are so thankful to the couple that adopted Raisin and took him into their care and made his last few months blissful and beautiful. It is a wonderful thing to hear of an older cat finally finding a home, and we are sorry that Raisin could not have stayed with his new family longer. Every animal deserves a loving family and we are so happy you were able to have yours, Raisin. Rest in peace.

Urgent Help Needed!
Feral Cats to be Euthanized Unless
Removed by March 10th
The Branford Compassion Club has been caring for a colony of cats at a Mobile Home Park for over a decade and has helped to reduce the population. At this time there are about 16 cats left for which we have provided shelters for and which we feed on a daily basis. Although we have been working for four months to find homes for these felines which are mostly feral, we have been for the most part unsuccessful. Now we have been given a 30 day mandate by the state and the East Shore Health Dept. to trap and remove the cats to other locations because of complaints of the residents.
If anyone knows of someone with a barn or shed who would take two of the cats, we would be most grateful. We will provide food. The cats have been neutered, tested and vaccinated. If these cats are not taken out by March 10, they will be trapped and euthanized.
Please call (203)488-6063 or email contact_us@branfordcompassionclub.org if you know of a person who would allow us to bring two cats to their barns.
